Tony,
nicknamed 'T.Money Green',
has played bass guitar since age 14 and has essentially been inseparable
from it ever since! He has honed his skills to the point where he
is one of the most sought-after and respected bass guitarists wherever
he goes. Tony is currently based in Detroit, MI - where he was just
awarded two Urban Funk Awards at the 2008 Detroit Music Awards-
one for Musicianship (on bass) and the other as Songwriter. Having
worked with some of the biggest names in the Industry, including-
George Clinton, Dre, Snoop, David Ruffin Jr- to name just a few,
Tony has experience in all aspects of the Industry. Tony's expertise
on bass is coupled with his skills in writing, recording, producing,
mixing and mastering songs. Clearly, Tony is a powerful musical
force to be reckoned with!
Tony continues his musical direction
by developing his new 'Roadwork' band sound and by mentoring talented
musicians around him. Currently, Tony is working closely with a
few of Detroit's finest musicians/performers, including Skenz, Miss
Lulu, Misfit, Maverick, David Ruffin Jr., Shadow, Andy Miles and
David Shelton.
Forming his first 'real' band in 1971- the original 'Roadwork'-
Tony quickly moved on to work with The Dramatics (1974-1992). His
involvement through the 18 years with them ranged from being a sideman,
to co-writing/arranging songs, and touring the world.
The next phase of Tony's career was as Producer for David Ruffin
Jr. -again traveling the world-and then as bassist/producer for
Death Row Records (1992-1995). He assisted in the creation of the
'Gangsta Rap' sound, which can clearly be heard in hit tracks like
“Gin & Juice”, “Doggy Dogg World”, “California
Love” and “You Can't See Me”.
In addition, Tony has worked extensively with Westbound Records
(1970-Present) and has access to the entire Parliament/Funkadelic
Catalog. Within the past few years, Tony has released 3 CD's on
this label: 'Original P Introducing Hyped Up Westbound Soljaz' (2001),
'Streets are Paved With Green' (2003) and 'T. Money Green Presents
Westbound Records: The Next Generation' (2005). The lastest release
provided an original, ecclectic blend of funk, soul, R&B, Rock
and Hip Hop influences.
Tony also works with Down Sound Records in Jamaica (1995-Present)
where he has helped produce the work of artists like Anthony B,
Lukie D, Lady Saw and Elephant Man.
Tony's own label is Hyped International Records (1991-Present),
to which he signed various local acts- including K-Stone, B-Deff,
Anonymous, Eric McAfee and Pinnacle. He continues to release CD's
on this label- the next one being a double album: 'Second and Antoinette',
with mixing and mastering done at Studio A, Detroit.
